About Me

Hello, my name is Sheridan, and I am a longtime hobbyist turned developer.

In 2004, I checked out a book about HTML and XHTML from my local library and began to teach myself how to code. I picked up CSS, bits of JavaScript and other programming languages, and skills in programs like Photoshop. I began college in 2011 and took three computer science courses: web development, the socio-technological web, and human-computer interaction. Between 2011 and 2015, I learned responsive web design with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, and JSON as well as the tenants of user experience and the structure of the internet itself.

What has always drawn me to web development is the opportunity for creative problem solving for complex problems. There is an undeniable satisfaction in creating solutions and seeing tangible results.

Web development has been a hobby of mine for many years, but I am also very drawn to international relations. I majored in Japanese and minored in economics in college. I moved to a small Japanese city shortly after graduating and worked for the local Japanese government. I wore a variety of hats related to public relations and human resources while fully immersing myself in Japanese culture. I returned to the United States in 2018 and began working in a research and promotion role with a bilateral trade promotion organization funded by the Japanese government.

After returning to ths US, I also returned to my web development hobby and now work full time as a full stack developer.
